Alex Nguyen awarded 2023 HRYF Maurice J. Sullivan $10,000 Scholarship
Alex Nguyen attends Maui High School and was sponsored by Kahului RC. Alex has been accepted to the University of Washington, with a major in Electrical Engineering. After completing his bachelor, Alex plan to further his education in Electrical Engineering and has plans to return back to Maui to support the community.

Olapaholunape (Olapa) Ann Kawahakui Duvauchelle awarded 2023 HRYF Joanna L. Sullivan $10,000 Scholarship
Olapa Ann Kawahakui Duvauchelle attends Molokai High School and was sponsored by Lahaina Sunset RC. Olapa is the first student from Molokai to receive the HRYF scholarship in its entire 47+ years. She is absolutely honored and thankful to obtain such a title! With this scholarship, she will be able to pursue a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Once she gets her degree, she hopes to bring proper representation to Molokai and all of Hawaii into mainstream media through her art. Ultimately, she wants to return to her home island and inspire future artists to follow their dreams just like she did.
